It was a marathon last night for Katy Perry at the world premiere of her 3D documentary extravaganza, Katy Perry: Part Of Me. Crazed fans, industry folk and seemingly everyone in between packed Hollywood Boulevard for an epic live performance leading up to the premiere of the film.
The blazing 5:00 p.m. heat sent two fans to the hospital but didn't dissuade many of the onlookers and tourists packed on both sides of the street from snapping photos, holding signs for Katy and generally screaming their heads off when the purple-haired megastar took the stage to perform her top hits, including "Hot And Cold," "Part Of Me" and her very first single, "Kissed A Girl."
Guests lucky enough to have VIP wristbands or premiere tickets practically danced their way inside the famed Grauman's Chinese Theater, where they were handed heart-shaped customized Katy Perry 3D glasses.
Katy Perry: Part Of Me is an expertly edited and directed concert documentary about a girl who has gone from singing in church to being one of the most famous faces on the planet. Many wondered how much screen time Perry's recent ex-husband, Russell Brand, would get -- especially since he reportedly asked for scenes to be removed from the film. Aside from some crowd boos when Brand first came on screen, the rest of the theater felt excited, inspired and happy.
The marathon continued for Perry after the premiere as guests left the Hollywood theater and were transported over to the iconic Chateau Marmont hotel on Sunset Boulevard. Inside the dimly lit courtyard, heavy hitters from the entertainment and music industries mingled, danced and drank the night away. Hollywood it-couple Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez sat at a quiet table in the garden with actress Amber Heard and friends, while Robert Pattinson, donning a classic baseball cap, laughed with friends in the famous Chateau foyer. Queen Latifah walked in sporting a track suit and funny woman Kathy Griffin sat with a friend off to the side of the party.
Perry's spirit comes through loud and bright in her film and that glowing aura follows her off camera. The star exchanged her scarlet-hued red carpet dress for a black strapless one and joined the party not long after everyone else arrived. Rumors spread that there were not one but two after-after parties in the bungalows at the Chateau going until at least 5 a.m. Our guess is Perry enjoyed a long sleep this morning after such an epic night.
